Ange’s story of rest and recovery

Hi, I'm Ange! A wife, mum of two humans and a staffy, lifelong resident of the Bay of Plenty, lover of chocolate, coffee and crystals, also avoider of public toilets

Eight years ago, my life took an unexpected turn when I found myself completely burnt out. Trying to balance family, full-time work, keeping active, and all the other societal pressures became too much. A six-month break from work turned into a two-year hiatus.

Unsatisfied that Western medicine viewed my burnout as ‘normal,’ I began to dip my toes into the world of holistic health. I learnt to slow down, to rest, to catch my breath, and slowly, I recovered. I returned to work part-time, embracing the wisdom of balance, inner calm, and self-care.

In 2020, life threw another curveball: breast cancer. After a clear bill of health, and with the thumbs up from my oncologist, I dove deeper into natural therapies. I started with infrared light exploring detoxifying saunas and red light therapy, before discovering the transformative power of
ice baths.

Gaia: the Greek goddess of Earth. In Greek mythology, Gaia is the personification of Earth, the mother of all living beings, a symbol of the nurturing essence of our planet.

Papamoa Beach

Bringing holistic health to Papamoa

Two years into my journey, I had an epiphany: I have to share what I’ve learnt with my community. My first step? Setting up a holistic recovery space in Papamoa.
